Probably the best Steaks I've ever eaten! Amazing taste and aroma! Everything I've tasted and ate was just unbelievably good, a dream of taste and food! Gluten free / sans gluten is also no problem! I also don't think there should be a big risk of cross contamination because the only thing with gluten I've seen in the kitchen was bread as welcome snack. Service is also really sweet and nice. Just ask them for gluten free and they can tell you even all the ingredients of deserts! Just all in all absolute recommendation and just amazing ambiente also!
Overview
Nestled in the picturesque town of Les Salles-sur-Verdon, France, La Plancha Cuisine Au Feu De Bois offers an unforgettable dining experience for those seeking authentic, wood-fired cuisine. Located at 8 Pl. Garuby, 83630, this charming restaurant provides an intimate atmosphere and a menu that celebrates the natural flavors of carefully chosen ingredients, all cooked to perfection over an open flame.
The concept behind La Plancha is simple yet incredibly effective: combining traditional cooking methods with a modern twist. When you step into the restaurant, you’re immediately greeted by the warm, inviting scent of wood burning in the open fire. This isn’t just for show-cooking with fire imparts a unique smoky depth to the dishes, enhancing the natural flavors in a way that other cooking methods can’t replicate.
One of the standout features of La Plancha is its menu, which centers around wood-fired grilled meats and vegetables. From perfectly seared steaks to fresh fish and seasonal vegetables, each dish is designed to showcase the ingredients at their best. The open flame not only adds flavor but also ensures that every dish is cooked with precision, creating that perfect balance of crispiness on the outside and tenderness on the inside.
A perfect example of this is their grilled lamb, which comes out with a rich, smoky flavor that is complemented by the tenderness of the meat. The fish, often sourced locally from the surrounding waters, has a light, delicate flavor, while the vegetables are charred just enough to bring out their natural sweetness. All of this is served alongside house-made sauces that elevate the dishes without overpowering them.
But it’s not just the food that makes La Plancha stand out. The atmosphere is a key part of the experience as well. The rustic décor, with wooden beams and an open kitchen, creates a relaxed yet sophisticated environment where you can enjoy a leisurely meal with friends or family. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, providing recommendations from the extensive wine list that pairs beautifully with the smoky flavors of the food.
A visit to La Plancha also offers a chance to explore the local area. Les Salles-sur-Verdon is a serene village, perfect for a quiet getaway. After enjoying your meal, you can take a stroll around the lake or visit nearby attractions like the stunning Verdon Gorge, known as the "Grand Canyon of Europe," for an unforgettable natural experience.
Guests often praise the restaurant for its consistency and quality. Many have shared stories of returning time and again for the same delicious grilled dishes. The intimate setting allows for a truly personal experience, where the owners and staff go out of their way to make sure every guest feels like part of the family.
What sets La Plancha apart from other dining options in the region is the dedication to quality and authenticity. The wood-fired cooking method is not just a gimmick but a central part of the dining philosophy. It’s a technique that’s been around for centuries, and the team at La Plancha has perfected it, elevating it to an art form that’s both nostalgic and modern. Whether you’re a local or a traveler passing through, the experience is unforgettable.
With a combination of expert culinary techniques, a welcoming atmosphere, and top-notch ingredients, La Plancha Cuisine Au Feu De Bois is a true gem in the heart of Les Salles-sur-Verdon. Whether you’re looking to enjoy a meal with friends or have a romantic evening out, this restaurant offers something for everyone. The fire on the grill, the rustic ambiance, and the mouth-watering flavors come together to create a dining experience that you’ll want to savor again and again.

Very nice restaurant, friendly stuff and the meat was amazing. I really recommend this place.
What a fantastic steak restaurant! Beautiful place, so romantic, very relaxing, calm and well-decorated. I truly loved the restaurant, I liked so much that I decided to return on my second night at the Verdon. The steaks are beautiful, nicely well cooked and the potatoes gratin were so delicious. The poached eggs on the starts menu are also very delicious and very different from a typical starting dish. The prices are a little high, but for the quality and the environment where you will be eating it is definitely worth the price. The service is also great, both of the waiters were friendly, and helpful, bear in mind that they don't speak fluent English, but enough to make you feel welcome and comfortable. I don't speak any French and I had an amazing time, we did understand each other via google transition lol. The whole experience was just perfect really! Many thanks to the chef and the team
Excellent meat, very good wine, and friendly and accommodating staff. It's also much prettier and cosier than on the picture, the building is really pretty with many climbing plants. so the atmosphere also scores a 5 out of 5. Highly recommended.
Such a lovely setting, very friendly and helpful waiting staff. We had different options of the baked eggs for starter ans two different entrecôte de beouf. Beautiful flavour from the open fire cooking On our evening an adjacent table with 3 young kids kind of ruined the atmosphere
The owner and staffs cannot speak English but they were tried hard to communicate with us and provided very good suggestion for our lunch selection. We love this place and it’s the best restaurant during our trip in south France.
One of the best steaks i ever had!!!! Both waitress and chef are super nice and welcoming. Steak is cooked with wooden fire which enhanced the favour to the whole next level (to be honest top level). Wish to come again!
Exellent food and atmosphere. We were two persons eating and ate starters and the main course. I had escargots and sallad as starters - sallad was very good with good and strong tasting ail sauce. Escargots were also good. The main course with waguy rumpsteak and vegetable gratin was then just simply exellent. They clearly know how to make a good steak with live fire. You could also smell the fire and smoke and that gave a good addition to the athmosphere. The interior, otherwise, was also very well designed and done with an african flavor, and that with very welcoming and good service was all in all a good surprise - even when I had read good reviews in beforehand.
